Originally started as a men’s prayer breakfast, this ecumenical event now attracts over 500 men and women from Lebanon County and beyond for a delicious buffet breakfast, inspiring speaker, and uplifting music. The 2013 Lenten Breakfast will be no exception.
This year’s speaker is Reverend Alan J. Smith, Senior Pastor of the United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd, Lebanon, PA. Rev. Smith was appointed to serve the Church of the Good Shepherd in July 2011.
Rev. Smith became known to our community as the minister who slept inside a large cardboard box with only a flashlight, sleeping bag and a lawn chair to raise awareness of the need for an emergency homeless shelter. His personal dedication to the topic of homelessness in Lebanon County raised $24,000 toward the emergency shelter project sponsored by LCCM and Jubilee Ministries.
Rev. Smith is a graduate of Eastern Baptist Seminary. He and his wife, Mary, have five children.
This year’s entertainment will feature The Music Team of the United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd, under the direction of Andy Roberts.
The cost is $10 per person and includes a homemade breakfast buffet, catered by Country Home Catering, complete with a scrambled egg casserole, pancakes, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, freshly baked sticky buns, juice and coffee.
It is sure to be a great time with food and fellowship you will not want to miss!
