So what is BOX CITY? It's a fun and meaningful event in which people camp out for the night in a temporary dwelling (i.e. a box) to increase awareness of the many homeless families in our own community, AND to raise money to support Lebanon County Christian Ministries’ Emergency Shelter.

Who can participate? Anyone interested – youth groups, school or community clubs, sports team, civic organizations and families. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or chaperone. (With ratio of 1 chaperone to 7 children)

How do I sign up? Register to become a resident of Box City by going to our website (www.lccm.us) and clicking on the BOX CITY link. There, you can download and /or print the Registration from, Pledge Sheet, and all other necessary information.  Then, e-mail or mail it in to us by the designated deadline.

Set a goal to raise $100 ($500 goal for a team) in pledges or contributions. Payments can be made either by check (payable to LCCM – Box City) or by credit card through LCCM”s secured website.  Individuals who raise $100 will receive a free Box City t-shirt and other prizes.  And the individual that raises the most money will be elected Mayor of LCCM Box City and receive a Key to the City.

Teams should aim to raise $500. Teams cannot have more than 8 members, including chaperones.  The team that raises the most money will be elected to the City Council of LCCM Box City.

What is the Deadline?  Deadline for registration and pledges is Friday August 4, 2017. Late registrations will be accepted the day of the event; however, late registrations will not be guaranteed t-shirts or other prizes.

Location? The event will be held at: Church of the Good Shepherd located on 1500 Quentin Road, Lebanon, PA 17042 (Rte. 72 South-Across from Frederick Chevrolet).

What can I bring to the event?   Being mindful of the provisions available to the homeless, limit yourself to your decorated box or dwelling, a sleeping bag or pad, tarp, pillow, warm clothes and a refillable water bottle. You may bring a cell phone, medications and essential toiletries, but please DO NOT BRING: alcoholic beverages, drugs, weapons of any kind, beverages in glass bottles or other electronic items. Chaperones will have cell phones in case emergency. If you have a special need, please contact us.

What about Food? A modest homeless shelter-style meal and light breakfast will be provided.

What about safety? We require all groups to have one adult chaperone (21 years or older) for every seven participants (renters) under the age 18

What if it rains? Just as the homeless do, we will attempt to cope with the weather we are given. Unless there is a safety risk to residents, then we will move inside.  The event will continue rain or shine.

REGISTRATION/SET-UP: will begin @ noon on Friday, August 18, 2017. In keeping with the theme, a soup kitchen style meal will be served between at noon and again at 5:00 pm – 6:00 PM FOR ALL Participants. Live Music, Games, and Activities will begin at noon followed by an outdoor movie, once it gets dark enough.

Saturday morning begins with a moderate breakfast at 7:00 am. Awards, along with the Mayor and City Council Inaugurations, will be held immediately thereafter. The event will close with a short time of praise and worship.
