2011 Youth "Got" Talent at Benefit Dinner Lebanon County Christian Ministries’ Annual Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction was held on August 25, 2011 at Living Waters Chapel. Almost 200 people were in attendance; all looking forward to the entertainment for the evening that featured the 3rd Annual Youth "Got" Talent Contest. The six finalists, in order of appearance, Ana Garcia, Zarah McGarvey, Brenton Weidman, Kelsey Bachman, Ashley Cypher, and Sarah Speck gave a wonderful presentation of their diverse talents. For the first time in this contest’s history, two of the finalists performed instrumental solos (both of them were on the clarinet). We truly appreciate their willingness and confidence to share their God given talent to support our ministry. We were honored to have Kelly Enck Production Director of Shining Light Ministries, Rebecca C. Lister, Associate Professor of Music at Lebanon Valley College, and Renee Krizan, Associate Artistic Director for Mt. Greta Theatre provide their expert and constructive opinions as they served as our judges for the evening. Dave and Laurie Funk of Arthur Funk & Sons, Inc. graciously sponsored the $900 cash prize for the top three performers. After all the votes were tallied, the results were: Third Place ($100), Ashley Cypher; Second Place ($300), Kelsey Bachman; and First Place ($500), Brenton Weidman. Brenton performed an emotional piece that he wrote in memory of his best friend entitled, "Left to Atlantis". Thank you, Brenton, for sharing your work with us. We wish to congratulate all of the finalists as they each performed brilliantly. The evening also included a silent auction of 22 theme baskets donated by local churches, businesses and friends, raising $1,119 for the ministry, and a hearty dinner prepared by Country Home Catering. LCCM wishes to thank the Benefit Dinner Committee led by Laura Page for their effort in making this year’s dinner a tremendous success. A special "Thank You" goes out to the contestants (and their family and friends) for their willingness to share their talent. We also want to thank all those that attended and helped make the 2011 Annual Benefit Dinner, Silent Auction, and Youth "Got" Talent Contest a worthwhile event.
